What Does It Meant To Be A Boise Owens Corning Roofer?

There is a lot that goes into becoming an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor and we’re going to cover that here. To start, Owens Corning takes the roofing industry very seriously. They want to ensure that the roofers who are using their high quality products are representing the OC brand in a dignified, respectful, and professional way. They want to make as sure as humanly possible that their products and their brand as a whole are being represented in a way that is reflective of their values. 

Their “Preferred Contractors” must undergo specific qualifications and benchmarks of their business and expertise like (but not limited to) their quality of craftsmanship, the reliability of their company, and standards of professionalism of their employees and how they conduct themselves. If a company is able to pass these qualifying aspects, then they are welcomed into the Platinum status family, of which only about 1% of all roofing contractors ever achieve.

How It Starts

The first step in the journey to becoming certified platinum is to join the more broadly available program called the “Contractor Rewards” program. If you have some time in good standing in this program, you may be able to meet with and develop a relationship with an Owens Corning Roofing Area Sales Manager who will then evaluate the company and decide whether or not they can officially join the Preferred Contractor Network. 

If you reach the coveted Preferred status, you’re close to being Platinum, but not quite there yet! You must maintain the Preferred status for some time while demonstrating your ability to represent the OC brand in a positive way in order to even qualify for the Platinum status. 

Platinum Status Qualifications

Becoming a Platinum Preferred contractor is more of a marathon than a sprint. There are several things that you must do in order to qualify. Here are a few of them:

• Have a high BBB rating (consistently) 
• Be a Preferred contractor for at least a full year
• Have proper insurance coverage and documentation
• Be in good financial standing and submit to screenings from auditors
• Demonstrate a high level of industry knowledge and are engaging in the top safe and acceptable levels of craftsmanship
• Get personally invited by an Owens Corning representative in good standing
